Jo Whiley's 90s Anthems

Jo Whiley brings her 90s Anthems show to O2 Academy Bournemouth on Friday 5 February 2027. It's a night dedicated to the music of the nineties, curated by Whiley herself, who spent the decade at the centre of the British scene, sharing the studio and the stage with some of its biggest acts.

She's put the set together by rummaging through her own record bag and dusting off vinyl, pulling out the big hits alongside the hidden gems that shaped the soundtrack of the nineties. The music spans Britpop, rock and dance, and the live show mixes dance anthems from across the indie, rave and pop genres with live versions of the songs. It's not just about the records, either: past audiences have pointed to the video and light show, as well as Whiley's energy and the eclectic range of the set.

That range is a good way to describe what she's aiming for. The names that have come up in previous shows run from Pulp, The Prodigy and Rage Against the Machine to Britney Spears, Nirvana, The Cure, Oasis and Radiohead, so it's less a single-genre night and more a broad look at the decade's output. The whole thing is built around her own connection to the era, rather than a pre-set list of the charts.

Doors open at 19:30 at the O2 Academy Bournemouth in Boscombe, so you've got plenty of time to get sorted before things kick off.
