Ian Gillan - Talking Gib'rish Tour

Ian Gillan is coming to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Wednesday 28 April 2027, as part of his Talking Gib'rish Tour. It's his first-ever run of spoken word dates, so instead of a concert, he'll be on stage telling stories from a career that now stretches back more than six decades. He describes himself as 'quivering with anticipation' at the prospect of his first public speaking engagements, and the evening traces the arc from his childhood in Hounslow to the global rise of Deep Purple, with 'maybe something funky in between'.

There's a lot of ground to cover. He joined his first band, The Javelins, in 1962, and by 1965 he'd teamed up with Roger Glover in Episode Six, touring Europe and the Middle East with Dusty Springfield. In 1969 he joined Deep Purple, the hard-rock pioneers whose 1972 album Machine Head gave the world 'Smoke on the Water'. And in 1970 he played Jesus Christ on the original London studio recording of Jesus Christ Superstar for MCA Records. After 65 years on the road, he's offering firsthand accounts of the people and places he encountered along the way.

It's a long way from Hounslow to the top of the charts, and this is the first time he's stepped out from behind the microphone to tell the story in his own words. The show starts at 8:00pm, and tickets are from £46.25.
