Elwood Flynn is signing books at The Mysterious Bookcase in Westbourne today, Saturday 18 July. He'll be signing copies of his debut novel, Hot Lead, and offering early signed copies of the sequel, Alias Hicks.
Flynn is a Bournemouth-based author who writes gritty, fast-paced, and brutal thrillers set in the Wild West, written in the spirit of classic mass-market westerns. He's open about the violence in his work, too: he insists it serves the story rather than shock value. Hot Lead has earned him a reputation for character-driven storytelling, and bestselling author Mark Stay famously described it as being 'for readers who think Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian is for toddlers'.
If you've already read the debut, the early signed copies of Alias Hicks are the main draw here. It's a chance to get the sequel before it's out in the wild, signed by the author himself. If you haven't read Flynn yet, Hot Lead is the place to start.
