Deacon Blue perform their debut album Raintown in full as part of their 40th anniversary tour.
Deacon Blue play Bournemouth International Centre on Tuesday 19 October 2027, as part of a tour marking the 40th anniversary of their debut album, Raintown. The set is the album played in full, so you'll hear the whole thing from start to finish rather than a handful of the well-known tracks. That means Dignity, When Will You (Make My Telephone Ring), Chocolate Girl and Loaded all get their turn, alongside the songs that usually sit in the background.
It's a long way back to where they started. Deacon Blue emerged from Glasgow in the mid-1980s, led by husband and wife songwriting duo Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh. They took their name from a Steely Dan song and burst onto the scene with Raintown in 1987, an evocative portrait of city life. The album is now Platinum, as are the two that followed it, and the band have sold more than seven million records, had twelve UK Top 40 singles and two number-one albums, When The World Knows Your Name and the compilation Our Town.
They stepped away in the mid-1990s, then reunited with Walking Back Home in 1999 and Homesick in 2001, the final album to feature guitarist Graeme Kelling, who died in 2004. A creative resurgence followed with The Hipsters in 2012, and in 2025 they released their eleventh studio album, The Great Western Road, recorded at Rockfield Studios, which reached number three in the UK chart. This tour takes them back to the very beginning, with Raintown as the sole focus of the night.
