Culture Club - The Singles Tour

Culture Club are playing the Bournemouth International Centre on Monday 7 December, with the show starting at 6:30pm in the BIC Windsor Hall. It's part of their The Singles Tour, which takes the band across the UK and brings them through Bournemouth on a Monday night.

If you're not familiar with the name, Culture Club first burst onto the scene in 1982, fronted by Boy George. They became one of the UK's biggest exports of the 20th century, and they're credited with shifting perceptions in music, fashion and art as New Romantic pop sensations. They won the 1984 Grammy for Best New Artist and took Best British Group and Best British Single at the BRIT Awards. They were also the first group since The Beatles to have three Top 10 hits in America from a debut album, and the first group in music history to have an album certified diamond in Canada.

Their chart run was long: seven UK Top 10 singles, nine Top 10s in the USA and nine Top 20s in Australia. 'Karma Chameleon' and 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me' are the ones most people know, and together they've sold over 100 million singles and 50 million albums worldwide. Boy George is recognised as one of the first true, unapologetic innovators in the music and fashion world, and he's still the face of the band.

It's a Monday night gig, which is a bit of a change from the usual weekend run, and it's taking place in the Windsor Hall at the BIC. The show starts at 6:30pm, so it's an early one.
