Community Qigong sessions led by artist Rakhee Jasani, combining gentle movement, deep breathing and stillness.
Rakhee Jasani leads community Qigong on Monday evenings at TOSH, The Old School House in Boscombe. It's a regular session that combines gentle movement, deep breathing and stillness, framed as a way to arrive fully in the body and meet the week from a place of calm. Each month follows a different theme, moving with the seasons and the elements, so the focus shifts as the year turns.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that weaves together the flowing grace of tai chi, the mindful awareness of yoga and the stillness of meditation. The sessions ask for no previous experience, flexibility or coordination, and one participant described the practice as extraordinary, moving and enlivening. If you've never tried it, it's a low-pressure way to get started.
The venue, TOSH (The Old School House) in Boscombe, is an inclusive, accessible non-profit arts space that hosts workshops, performances and community gatherings. It's a community-run spot, which fits the spirit of the class. The sessions run on Monday evenings, and you can drop in for a single one or keep coming back as the themes change month by month.
