A full-day beginner-friendly workshop to design and handcraft a solid silver Christmas pendant or earrings using silver clay.
Hazel's Jewellery Shop is running a Christmas Silver Jewellery Making Workshop at Westcliff Baptist Church in Westbourne on Saturday 14 November. It's a full-day session, running from 9:30am to 4:00pm, and it's built around silver clay, which is a bit of a shortcut for anyone who's never worked with metal before.
If you've never heard of silver clay, the basic idea is that it's a mixture of silver particles and an organic binder, so it feels and works a lot like clay. You shape it by hand, and once it's fired in a kiln, the binder burns away and leaves you with solid .999 fine silver. Because you're working with it while it's soft, you don't need to worry about soldering or using a torch—you just mould it into whatever you're after.
Over the course of the day, you'll design and handcraft either a solid silver Christmas pendant or a pair of earrings. It's a beginner-friendly workshop, so you don't need any prior experience to get something finished by the time you leave. The whole thing is set up as a one-day session, meaning you'll go from a lump of clay to a finished piece of jewellery in a single go, rather than coming back over several weeks.
