Behind the Mask is a creative mask-making workshop at Bobby's & Co on Thursday 8th October, running from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. It's a two-hour session where you spend the time making a mask, with gentle music playing in the background. There are optional reflective prompts on hand if you want something to work from, but you're just as welcome to let your own ideas take the lead.
The workshop is held in a psychologically safe environment, so it's more of a quiet, focused space than a loud social one. The music and the prompts are there to support the process, not to drive it in any particular direction, and the prompts are entirely optional — you can use them as a starting point or ignore them and just make your own thing.
It's part of the Arts by the Sea Fringe, the second edition of the fringe that takes the core festival's creativity into independent venues across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. This year's Fringe runs from Sunday 27th September to Sunday 11th October under the theme 'ELEMENTAL', and it's put together in collaboration with We Broke Free, the South Coast independent music curators and specialists. That means the Fringe is spread across several venues over those two weeks, rather than being tied to one spot.
