Weekly Thursday stand-up show with a line-up of comedians and a big screen of web clips, headlined by Andy Robinson.
The Thursday Night Comedy Carousel returns to The Glee Club on Thursday 22 October, the first of a run that carries on every Thursday through to 28 January 2027. It's held in the venue's STUDIO room at 70 Hurst Street, and if you're planning to go, there's a Halloween special on Thursday 29 October.
The format is a bit different from your standard stand-up night. It's a fast-paced, spontaneous show that pairs a line-up of comedians with a big screen showing the best bits from the weird world of the web, so you've got the live acts and the clips running alongside each other. The line-up changes from night to night, and Andy Robinson headlines. It's for ages 16 and over, and the material is for adults.
It's a long-running night with a fair bit of recognition behind it: four What's On Readers' Awards for Best Comedy Show, a Chortle Award for Best Themed Comedy Show, and it was voted Best Comedy Night in the Midlands by What's On for four years running. Chortle also named it Best Themed Comedy Night in 2020, and the Birmingham Mail called it a 'barrel load of belly laughs'.
