One-man Halloween storytelling show by performance storyteller Jason Buck, exploring the stories and customs of Samhain.
Jason Buck brings The Mists of Samhain to Merlin's Cafe Bar on Wednesday 28 October, a one-man Halloween show that sits within his The Season of Mists collection. It's a storytelling night rather than a play, with Buck weaving narrative and theatrical elements to explore the stories and customs of Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival that marks the close of the harvest and the onset of winter.
Buck is an award-winning performance storyteller, and this is a solo piece. The focus is on the folklore and seasonal mystery of Samhain itself, so if you've ever wondered about the roots of the festival before it became the modern Halloween, this is where you'll find them. It's billed for adults and families (12+), so it works as a night out with friends or something to bring the older kids along to.
Merlin's Cafe Bar on Corporation Street is a gothic space, and the organisers describe it as an atmospheric setting for the piece. People who've seen it have called it an immersive experience steeped in folklore, and Buck himself has been described as 'a man made of myth, magic and mead' whose tales are filled with adventure.
