Stand-up comedian Muhsin Yesilada performs his new work-in-progress show 'Son of Adem', blending heartfelt storytelling with sharp, relatable comedy about family, grief and identity.
Muhsin Yesilada brings his new show Son of Adem to The Glee Club on Friday 6 November, with the set starting at 8:30pm. It's billed as a work in progress, part of the build-up to a full tour in 2027, so this is one of the earlier chances to see it while it's still being shaped.
Yesilada is a stand-up comedian and a Psychology PhD who performs regularly in theatres and clubs across the country. He's spent a fair bit of time supporting some big names on the circuit — Mo Gilligan, Kae Kurd, Guz Khan, Tez Ilyas, Nabil Abdulrashid and Richard Blackwood — and Son of Adem is his own show taking centre stage. The material turns on family, grief and identity, and it's built around two very different threads: the loss of his father and the unexpected online fame of his mum, who now finds herself recognised in the most random places. He describes the result as heartfelt storytelling blended with sharp, relatable comedy.
It's a work in progress, so you're seeing the material as it's being developed rather than a polished, finished hour. That's the point of these kinds of shows — they're the building blocks for what eventually goes on tour.
