Stand-up comedian Mark Thomas celebrates 40 years at the mic with a night of political rants and jokes.
Mark Thomas is at The Glee Club on Wednesday 28 October, playing the Main Room at The Arcadian on Hurst Street. The show is called 40 in Stand-Up Years, and it's exactly what it says on the tin: Thomas celebrating four decades at the mic.
He's been standing up since the late 1980s, and he built his reputation on political comedy. Critics have called him one of the stand-out performers of his generation, and he's been listed among the 'Top 50 Funniest Comedians of the 21st Century'. His sets typically combine political insight with domestic issues, so you'll get the big-picture rants alongside the smaller, closer-to-home stuff. He's described as one of the oldest surviving alternative comics still performing, and this night marks the 40-year milestone.
It's part of a tour running through October and November, with a December leg to follow, so this is one of the autumn dates. The Glee Club is in the Main Room at The Arcadian, 70 Hurst Street, B5 4TD.
