Emo and pop-punk brunch with a live drummer and a resident DJ mixing anthems from 2000 to the present, with dress-up encouraged.
The Emo Brunch is taking over The Bierkeller Birmingham on Saturday 24 October, a nostalgia trip built around the emo and pop-punk scene of the 2000s. It's a daytime thing, so you're in and out well before the night properly kicks off. The whole thing is pitched at friends and groups, and they encourage you to dress up for it — so if you've still got the heavy eyeliner and the big fringes from your teenage years, this is the time to bring them back.
On the music side, there's a live drummer and a resident DJ mixing anthems from 2000 to the present, so it's not just the early stuff; the set runs from the 2000s right through to the more recent ends of the scene. The live drums give it a bit more of a gig feel than your usual DJ set, and the whole thing is built around the chance to scream your heart out to the songs you know by heart. It's a brunch, so you'll be doing all this over food and drinks in the middle of the day.
The venue is The Bierkeller, an authentic Bavarian beer hall at 21-22 Essex St, B5 4TR. It's a big, open space that runs regular nights throughout the week, like Keller Karaoke on Tuesdays and Klub Quiz on Mondays, so this is a bit of a departure from its usual weekday crowd. It's right in the city centre, easy enough to get to and just as easy to leave once you've had your fill.

Doors open at 11:30am, and the event itself runs from 12:00 to 15:00, so you're done by mid-afternoon with the rest of your Saturday still ahead of you. If you're going with a group, it's worth getting your tickets sorted in advance.
