Stand-up comedy night with a meal for two at Glee Club in Birmingham.
Glee Club in Birmingham is doing a comedy night with a meal for two on Saturday 24 October, and it's a good way to see the place if you've never been. The Glee is where stand-up comedy first started for The Glee, the comedy company behind the club, and it's still their home base. Across its main room and a STUDIO room, the venue stages stand-up, music, cabaret and burlesque, with its own brand of shows running every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Over the years it's hosted some of the biggest names in the business — Jack Dee, Jo Brand, Russell Howard, Jimmy Carr and Michael McIntyre have all played here. The Thursday Night Comedy Carousel has been voted Best Comedy Night in the Midlands by What's On for four years running and Best Themed Comedy Night 2020 by Chortle. There's also Rough Works, the monthly new-material night run by Jo Enright, which has featured Sarah Millican, Josh Pugh, Gary Delaney, Matt Bragg, Andy Robinson, Shazia Mirza, Scott Bennett, Lindsey Santoro and Phil Nichol. And if you're into something a bit more theatrical, The Gilded Merkin is the venue's burlesque and cabaret show, produced by fire performer Scarlett Daggers.
