Stand-up show by musical-theatre trained performer Christopher Hall, former collaborator with Sugababes and Natasha Bedingfield.
Christopher Hall is playing The Glee Club in Birmingham on Friday 23 October, with the show starting at 7:45pm and doors opening about half an hour before. It's a stand-up set, and he's the only name on the bill for the night.
If you haven't come across him yet, Hall doesn't fit the usual stand-up mould. He's a musical-theatre trained performer and choreographer, and he spent years working in that world before comedy became the main thing. He first made his name singing with the likes of Sugababes, Natasha Bedingfield, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Shania Twain, so there's a whole career of professional stagecraft behind him that you don't usually find in a comedy club. He describes himself as a 'triple threat' and a 'showman, jester, attention chaser', and that theatrical background is a big part of how he works on stage.
He found a different kind of audience during lockdown, when he started posting sketches to Instagram and TikTok. Those caught the attention of people like Rod Stewart, Sharika and Gwen Stefani, and they helped him transition from the musical theatre world into the comedy circuit. Since then, he's taken a show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022, which sold out before the run even started, and he's the performer behind Self Helpless, Girl For All Seasons and Work in Progress.

His stand-up has picked up five-star reviews from Broadway Baby, On Your Markus, Corr Blimey, North West End, The Student, Brighton Journal, Curtain Call, The Wee Review and Ed Fringe Review. It's a good run of ratings from a wide range of publications, and it gives you a fair idea of the kind of set he brings to the stage. The show is at The Glee Club on Friday 23 October, 7:45pm, with doors opening around 7:15pm.
