Principal Sunday morning service of Holy Communion with choral music by the Cathedral Choir of boys, girls and adults.
Birmingham Cathedral holds its Choral Eucharist on Sunday 18 October, from 11:00 to 12:00. It's the cathedral's main Sunday morning Holy Communion service during the choir term, and as the name suggests, the music is the thing that sets it apart. The choral parts are sung by the Cathedral Choir — boys, girls and adults — and the rest of the service follows the usual pattern: Bible readings, a sermon, prayers and hymns.
To get a sense of what that means, it helps to know how the choir works. They're a professional ensemble of boys, girls and adults, and they sing five services every week during term time, with choristers coming in from schools across the city. The Choral Eucharist is the principal Sunday morning service of the term; when the choir isn't in term, the Sung Eucharist takes its place. The cathedral follows the Anglican choral tradition, and Choral Evensong is sung four times a week in traditional Book of Common Prayer language. Beyond the worship, they run regular activities exploring Public Theology — the way Christians live out their faith in the modern world.

In an average week, the cathedral hosts more than twenty-two acts of in-person worship, and all of them are free to attend. The Choral Eucharist is one of those, so you don't need a ticket to come along. If you can't make it in person, the service is also livestreamed. It runs from 11:00 to 12:00 on Sunday 18 October at Birmingham Cathedral, and it's free to attend.
