Stand-up comedy gig by Chico Bean, known for his observational and character-based sketches, at The Glee Club.
Chico Bean plays The Glee Club on Friday 29 January, his only Birmingham date that night. It's a solo show, so it's just him on stage for the full set.
If you're not familiar with his work, Bean is a comedian known for observational and character-based sketches. The observational side is the stuff we all recognise — the little absurdities of daily life that he picks out and stretches until they're funny. The character sketches are where he steps into different roles, building a scene around a specific voice or personality rather than just telling a story from his own perspective. The two styles run together, so you'll get the direct storytelling and the character work in the same set.
The Glee Club is at 70 Hurst Street in the Arcadian Centre, right in the heart of the city. It's a dedicated comedy club, so the room is built for this kind of night — a small, focused space where the focus stays on the performer and the crowd. Bean is the sole name on the bill, so he'll be carrying the whole evening himself.

The show starts at 20:15, with doors opening at 19:45. Last entry is 20:00, so if you're coming from work or heading in from across town, you've got a decent window to get in and find a seat before things get underway.
