Behind-the-scenes ballet experience in which Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers warm up and prepare for a performance.
Birmingham Royal Ballet are opening up their rehearsal process at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Saturday 5 December, with Class on Stage running at 11:00am on the Main Stage. It's a behind-the-scenes look at the company's morning: you watch the dancers warm up and work through their final preparations before a performance.
That's the whole point of the session. Rather than a polished production, you're seeing the work that goes into it. The company describes it as an introduction to ballet, and it's a good way to get a sense of the strength, skill and stamina these dancers bring to the stage. If you've never seen a ballet company from the inside, this is a straightforward way to see how they actually prepare for a show.
It runs as part of the company's season at the Hippodrome, so it's one of several things they'll be doing at the venue over the course of their run. If you're planning to make a morning of it, the Hippodrome has an AA Rosette awarded restaurant, a Coffee Bar, Champagne & CanapΓ©s and a Royal Box Experience on site.
