A 10-mile relay run with teams of four, featuring a festival atmosphere, live music, and a Kids Dash for younger participants.
The Zilker Relays return to Zilker Metropolitan Park on Friday, September 11, from 6 PM to 10 PM. It's a 10-mile relay run by teams of four, with each runner covering a 2.5-mile loop that starts and ends at a central festival and transition area. The team format isn't unique, but the combination of the relay, a festival home base, drinks and live music has made it a favorite among runners of all calibers and ages. Now in its 21st year, the race also stages a Kids Dash for the youngest participants.
Each team entry includes a post-race dinner from Tacodeli, cold drinks from Zilker Brewing Co., live music and access to the legendary Zilker after-party, with custom awards for the top teams. The festival atmosphere is a big part of the night—the transition area serves as a home base for teams to hang out between legs, so it's as much about the party as the running. If you're not racing, public viewing is free and open to the public, and you can buy passes for the Athlete's Village if you want to get closer to the action.

Registration is open for teams, and there are also volunteer opportunities if you'd rather help out than run. The race takes place at Zilker Metropolitan Park, 2100 Barton Springs Road, and runs from 6 PM to 10 PM on Friday, September 11.
