Scott Strickland performs a new body of deeply personal songs alongside selections from his award-winning catalog as part of the Wonder What Wednesdays series.
Scott Strickland plays Soundspace at Captain Quack's on Wednesday, July 8, as part of Shawnee Kilgore's Wonder What Wednesdays. The night starts at 7 PM, and tickets are $15.
Strickland is a Houston native with East Texas roots, and he frames this appearance as an intimate journey across the American Southwest — deserts, mountain towns, and listening rooms built for stories. He'll perform a new body of deeply personal songs alongside selections from his award-winning catalog, so the set pulls from both his latest work and the older material he's known for.
The night belongs to Wonder What Wednesdays, a series Shawnee Kilgore started in July 2018. It began as a challenge to play only original songs for a month of Wednesdays without repeating a single one or leaning on her then five studio albums. Over time, the format grew to include 'Let That Songbird Bingo,' a spin on her motto 'Let That Songbird Go,' and a guest each night with whom she swaps songs and plays a surprise cover of the other artist's work. There have been 49 WWW shows across five venues so far, and Kilgore has played 407 original songs; if you heard one on a Wednesday, you'll never hear it at another.
