Folk singer-songwriter Willi Carlisle performs live at the iconic Antone's Nightclub in Austin.
Willi Carlisle plays Antone's Nightclub on Thursday, February 25, 2027. He's a folk singer-songwriter who pulls from traditional, punk, and country styles, and his songs tend to look at queer life and rural America. He's a multi-instrumentalist and a USA Fellowship recipient, and his albums include Peculiar, Missouri, Critterland, and Winged Victory.
Winged Victory is the one that'll likely be front and center. It continues the direct, folk-rooted address to collective suffering that Rolling Stone called "a beautiful folk document of American reckoning and redemption" in 2024. He wrote the album's first single, "Work is Work," in a motel room along the Mississippi River, and spent the fall touring the United States with dates in the UK and the Netherlands and an opening slot for Sierra Ferrell in Edmonton.
