Panel discussion and donation night supporting the Puerto Rican short film While I Have You, with dinner fundraiser.
Canje is hosting a fundraiser for While I Have You on Monday, August 24, from 4 PM to 10 PM. It's a two-part evening: a panel discussion to start, followed by dinner at the restaurant, with 10% of the dinner proceeds going toward the film.
While I Have You is a Puerto Rican-led short film written by Barbie Bernier and Duran Arturo Lucio. It looks at the grief and the humor that comes with dementia, told through a mother-daughter relationship. The panel is the first half of the night, and it's open to anyone who RSVPs. Moderating is Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of the Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, and he'll be joined by the film's producer, director, and lead actor. It's a chance to hear from the people behind the project and get a sense of the story they're telling before the night shifts gears.
After the panel, the evening continues as a dinner fundraiser at Canje. That's where the fundraising part comes in: 10% of the dinner proceeds go toward making the film. So you can come for the conversation and stay for the meal, and your dinner helps get the project finished.
