Wendy Colonna plays The Saxon Pub on Tuesday, October 27, with her full band, Sister Golden Hair. She's an Austin-based singer-songwriter originally from the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, and she's called Central Texas home since 2000. The Austin-American Statesman described her as "not just a singer-songwriter, she's a force of nature."
Since moving here, she's released eight studio albums, a live album, and a DVD, and she's written award-winning songs for advertisements. Her eighth album, No Moment But Now (2017), topped Apple Music's "Hot Tracks" and "Breaking Singer Songwriter" playlists. She's shared the stage with Mavis Staples, Delbert McClinton, and Edgar Winter, received a 2016 Black Fret Major Grant, and was a 2017 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Finalist.
Beyond the recording studio, she's been a visible part of the city's public life. She was invited to perform at the 2017 Austin Women's March, which drew 60,000 people, and she's emceed Austin's Earth Day festivities. She's also a co-owner of Tips Concerts, one of the city's intimate private venues.
