A craft workshop to paint a watercolour portrait of your pet and create a frame with pressed flowers.
Carlie Arts is hosting a watercolor and pressed flower workshop at St. Elmo Brewing Co. on Wednesday, July 22. It's a two-part project: you'll paint a watercolor portrait of your pet and then build a custom frame around it using pressed flowers. If you've got a dog, a cat, or some other animal you're particularly fond of, this is the night to get them on paper.
The painting part is the core of the evening. You'll work with watercolors to capture your pet's likeness, and the pressed flowers come in for the framing, so you leave with a finished piece rather than just a loose sketch. It's the kind of thing that works whether you've painted before or you're just starting out—the focus is on the process and the result you take home.
Since it's at St. Elmo, you'll be working in a brewery setting, which keeps the whole thing casual. You can grab a beer and settle in with your paints, and the atmosphere is more about hanging out and creating than sitting in a formal studio. It's a good way to spend a Wednesday evening if you're into making things by hand.
