A hands-on workshop where participants create one-of-a-kind jewelry using vintage 1960s Mattel ThingMaker molds and Apoxy Sculpt clay.
Make at Rosie is hosting a Vintage ThingMaker Jewelry Lab Workshop on Wednesday, September 9, from 6 PM to 9 PM. The whole night is built around a set of original, authentic 1960s Mattel ThingMaker molds, and you'll use them to make your own one-of-a-kind jewelry. The molds cover a wide range of shapes: dinosaurs, sharks, spiders, snakes, flowers, sea life, mammoths, and dozens of other designs. You pick what you want to work with and walk away with something you made yourself.
The instructor brings everything you need—the vintage molds, shimmery mica clay, findings, and tools—and spends the evening teaching her favorite finishing techniques. A good part of that instruction centers on Apoxy Sculpt, her go-to creative material. It's a clay that doesn't need an oven, won't shrink or crack, bonds to almost anything, and cures in about four hours. That's the same material she features throughout her best-selling DIY jewelry book, which will be there for you to flip through while she shares the techniques she's developed over years of teaching and designing.
