A weekly team-based trivia night covering pop culture, history, sports and science, hosted by Alden Schaub.
Unknown Trivia is a weekly fixture at The Barton Springs Saloon, and it's free to play. It runs every Monday from 7 PM to 9 PM, so if you're looking for something to do on a Monday night in Austin, this is a pretty easy one to drop into. You don't need to book anything in advance—just show up with a few friends and you're set.
It's a team-based night, which is where the fun usually is. The questions cover pop culture, history, sports, and science, so it's the kind of mix where everyone on the team gets a chance to chime in. You'll find yourself leaning on the person who knows random sports stats for one round and the one who keeps up with pop culture for the next. It's run in English and lasts about two hours, which is long enough to get a few rounds in without taking up your whole night.
Alden Schaub hosts the evening, and while it's free to play, there's something on the line. The winners walk away with Sweet Salt saloon bucks—$10, $25, or $35 depending on where you land—which you can spend right there at the saloon. It's a low-stakes way to spend a Monday, and since it's free to enter, the only thing you're risking is a bit of pride if your team comes in last.
