Live dancehall music performances by Tumbleweed Hill Band and Silverheels Band at the historic Broken Spoke venue.
Tumbleweed Hill Band and Silverheels Band are both playing Broken Spoke on Saturday, August 22, and the two sets are spaced out across the day. Silverheels Band takes the restaurant from 6 to 8 PM, and Tumbleweed Hill Band takes over the dancehall at 9 PM.
If you've never been, the Broken Spoke is one of those Austin spots that doesn't really need an introduction. It's been around since 1964, when James M. White first opened it, and it still goes by the name "Last of the True Texas Dancehalls." It's a live-music venue that pairs homestyle meals—the chicken fried steak is the one everyone talks about—with two-step dance lessons led by instructor Terri White. It's as much about the food and the dancing as it is about the music.
That's why the two bands are in different parts of the building. Silverheels Band plays the restaurant early, from 6 to 8 PM, while you're eating. Tumbleweed Hill Band takes the dancehall at 9 PM, when the focus shifts to the dance floor. If you want to do both, you can start with dinner and stay for the dancing.

There's no cover for either set. Silverheels Band is in the restaurant from 6 to 8 PM, and Tumbleweed Hill Band starts in the dancehall at 9 PM.
