Workshop for beginners to create colorful mandalas using mindful painting and drawing techniques.
Dougherty Arts Center is hosting Try It: Mindful Mandalas on Thursday, October 1, from 6 PM to 9 PM. It's a three-hour workshop designed for beginners, so you don't need any prior experience with painting or drawing to join in. The whole session is built around creating colorful mandalas, those circular, symmetrical patterns that radiate from a center point.
The focus here is on mindful painting and drawing techniques. Rather than just following a set of instructions to get a specific result, the workshop emphasizes the process itself—the act of painting and drawing with intention. You'll work through the layers of a mandala, building it out from the center, and the goal is to leave with a colorful piece of your own.
Because it's a "Try It" class, it's meant as a low-stakes way to get your hands on some materials and see if this is something you'd like to keep doing. If you've never picked up a brush or a pencil before, that's exactly who this is for. You'll spend the evening working through the techniques alongside other beginners, so there's no pressure to be an expert when you walk through the door.
