Grammy-winning guitar player Trey Hensley performs live at The 04 Center with special guest Jack Barksdale.
Trey Hensley plays The 04 Center on Wednesday, August 26, with special guest Jack Barksdale. Hensley is a Grammy winner and a two-time IBMA Guitar Player of the Year, and he's coming off a new record, Can't Outrun The Blues, which he released this past March. NPR has called him a "musical phenom," and Acoustic Guitar has described him as "Nashville's hottest young player."
He's worked with some heavy names over the years, including Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Taj Mahal, and Tommy Emmanuel. That's a wide range of styles to pull from—country, bluegrass, folk, and blues—and Can't Outrun The Blues sits right in that intersection. If you've been following him, this is a good chance to hear the new material live.
Opening the night is Jack Barksdale, a Texas folk and Americana singer-songwriter who started performing when he was nine. He's signed to Truly Handmade Records, a label formed by the estate of Guy Clark, and he draws from a line of songwriters that includes Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen, and Willie Nelson. It's a local pairing, with a Texas writer warming up the room for a Nashville-based guitarist.
