Train to Busan - 10th Anniversary!

Train to Busan returns to the big screen at The State Theatre and Paramount Theatre on Wednesday, October 7, for a screening marking the film's tenth anniversary. It's a Korean-language thriller with English subtitles, directed by Yeon Sang-ho, and it runs 118 minutes.

If you've seen it on a small screen, the setup is worth a quick recap. What starts as a simple birthday trip for a father and daughter turns into a fight for survival when a zombie outbreak ravages South Korea. Trapped on a speeding train, they have to navigate a landscape of terror to reach safety. The cast is led by Gong Yoo, with Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, and Kim Su-an.

The screening is part of the city's wider cinema scene. The Paramount Theatre has stood on Congress Avenue in the heart of downtown Austin for more than a century and serves as an anchor of the city's arts scene, playing host to red-carpet film premieres and screenings during SXSW and AFF. This is one of those nights when a global phenomenon comes back to the big screen to mark a decade since its release.
