Tommy Howard leads his organ trio at Monks Jazz Club on Tuesday, August 18. He's on guitar, with Terry Bowness on organ and Tom Brechtlein on drums. It's a live-taping and listening-room concert, which means the room will be recorded and the focus stays on the music.
Howard is a San Antonio native who's been a fixture of the Austin jazz scene for more than 15 years. Over that time he's played with Ephraim Owens, Tony Campise, Butch Miles, Andre Hayward, Elias Haslanger and Dr. James Polk. He's also a member of Church On Monday, an ensemble that's picked up five Austin Music Awards. His debut trio album, Storybook, came out in 2017.

Because this is a listening-room show, Monks has a whisper policy in force—it's a night for sitting and listening rather than talking through the set. The club is at 310 E. Saint Elmo in Austin South, and there's free parking available in the area. Doors open at 7:15 PM and the music starts at 7:30 PM.
