R&B singer-songwriter Tje Austin performs live at the HAAM Day Music Festival.
Tje Austin plays the H-E-B Digital & Favor Delivery Eastside Tech Hub on Tuesday, September 22, as part of the HAAM Day Music Festival. It's a midday set, starting at 12:30 PM, so it's one of those shows you can catch on a lunch break or a slow Tuesday afternoon.
Austin-based R&B singer-songwriter Tje Austin is the sole name on the bill for this slot. He describes his soulful style as drawing on John Legend and Lenny Kravitz, and he channels his own life experiences into his performances. He's originally from Hawaii, adopted at four days old by a Mormon family with military ties and raised in a large, multicultural household. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he turned a hobby into a career, and he was a contestant on the first run of the North American version of The Voice.
He's spent a fair amount of time writing with other artists, too. He co-wrote with three-time Grammy winner Taj Jackson for the Xperience album, was a 2015 Semi-Finalist in the International Songwriting Competition in the R&B category, and was featured at the 2014 ASCAP Expo for Pop Songwriting. He manages himself through Falling Giants Music and has been a recurring featured artist for Texas on Tour, a State of Texas initiative.
