An immersive exhibition that uses life-size recreations and audio testimonies to explore the human stories behind the Titanic disaster, presented by Fever.
Titanic: The Human Story is now open at 11000 Middle Fiskville Rd, making its U.S. debut here in Austin. It's an exhibition that looks at the 1912 disaster through a human lens rather than just the tragedy itself, and it's presented by Fever.
Inside, you walk through life-size recreations of the ship's interiors, from the luxury of first class to the simplicity of third. An immersive audio guide in English and Spanish narrates testimonies from passengers and crew, which carries you back to 1912 as you move through the rooms. The whole visit takes about 80 to 90 minutes, so it's something you can fit into a morning or an afternoon without it taking over your whole day.
There's some history behind it, too. The exhibition was created by Musealia, an independent Spanish company with over 25 years of experience and more than four million visitors across more than 70 museums and institutions worldwide. They teamed up with Titanic historian Claes-Göran Wetterholm, who brought more than 40 years of research to the project to help separate fact from fiction. Between the two of them, they've put together a show that focuses on the people on board rather than just the ship.
