Tiny Tales to You: Adult 'Hoppy' Hour

Tiny Tales to You: Adult "Hoppy" Hour is at the Austin Public Library Terrazas Branch on Tuesday, September 1, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. It's an adults-only event, so you can leave the kids at home and spend the evening hanging out with a small army of animals.

The lineup is pretty wide-ranging. You'll find bunnies, hedgehogs, bearded dragons, chinchillas, tortoises, guinea pigs, miniature chickens, and baby chicks. That covers a fair bit of ground—soft fur, scales, shells, and feathers all in one room. If you've ever wanted to hold a baby chick or a bearded dragon without having to bring one home, this is your chance.

It's a low-pressure way to spend a Tuesday night. You can move from one animal to the next at your own pace, and since it's for adults, it's a bit more relaxed than the usual animal-themed library program. If you're more of a hedgehog person than a tortoise person, you can spend your time there; if you want to see everything, there's plenty to get through.

The Terrazas Branch is at 1105 E. César Chávez St. in East Austin. The whole thing runs from 6 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, September 1.
