The Sword, an Austin heavy rock band, perform at Mohawk Outdoor with support from American Sharks and SKLOSS, presented as part of the Mohawk 20th Anniversary.
The Sword are playing Mohawk on Friday, December 18, as part of the venue's 20th anniversary. They're an Austin heavy rock band, so this is a hometown show. They'll be sharing the bill with American Sharks and SKLOSS.
If you've followed them for a while, you might remember the two collections they put out in 2020. One was Conquest of Kingdoms, a three-disc vinyl of rarities and B-sides. The other was Chronology 2006-2018, a three-CD retrospective built from tracks the band hand-selected from each of their studio albums. Between the two, they covered a lot of ground from their earlier years.
There's been a change in the lineup since those records came out. Original drummer Trivett Wingo was replaced by Santiago 'Jimmy' Vela III, and singer and guitarist John D. Cronise has said the change at the back made a drastic difference to their overall sound. The current lineup is Cronise on vocals and guitar, Bryan Richie on bass, Kyle Shutt on guitar, and Vela III on drums. They've also spent time on the road with Primus on their 'A Tribute to Kings' tour, playing Rush material.
