Concert by the southern-psychedelic rock duo The Swift Drag, supported by The Late Apes, at The 13th Floor.
The Swift Drag are playing The 13th Floor on Friday, October 16, with The Late Apes opening. It's a hometown show for the duo, who've been part of the Austin scene since they formed in 2014. They play southern-psychedelic rock, and the guitar-and-drums setup draws comparisons to outfits like The White Stripes and The Black Keys.
If you're coming to them from the records, there's a fair bit to work from. Their debut EP, We Won't Need That, came out in 2017 and was tracked live in a single studio session at Century Recordings in Dripping Springs. In 2020, they put out the single "The Designer" as a limited-edition 7" split vinyl on Austin's Secret Soup Records, and their second EP, Still Sitting Still, followed in June 2022. Last year they were selected as an Official Artist for South By Southwest here in town, and in 2025 they announced new music on the way, so this set should pull from a good stretch of their catalog.
