The Red Room at Cap City: Doug Mellard

Doug Mellard is headlining The Red Room at Cap City Comedy Club on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:30 PM. He's a Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian, though he's originally from Plano, Texas, so this is a bit of a homecoming for him.

If you haven't come across his name before, he's worked his way through some of the bigger stages in the business. He's appeared on Last Comic Standing and Live at Gotham, and he's performed alongside Doug Benson, Tom Segura, and Dan Cummins. The Austin American-Statesman once described him as "a high-energy crowd destroyer," which gives you a good sense of the room he likes to play—loud, fast, and leaning into the energy of the crowd rather than playing it safe. It's the kind of set that works best when the room is full and the momentum builds.

He'll be performing in the Red Room, one of the club's smaller, more intimate spaces, so you'll be close to the stage for this one. The show starts at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28, at Cap City Comedy Club in Austin.
