Stand-up comedy show featuring New York comedian Charles McBee at the intimate Red Room venue.
Charles McBee is headlining The Red Room at Cap City Comedy Club on Thursday, August 27, at 8 PM. He's a New York City stand-up and writer originally from Toledo, Ohio, and he's playing a run of dates that stretches through the weekend, with the August 27 show kicking things off.
McBee describes himself as an unapologetic 80s and 90s baby, and that's where his act lives: nostalgic, heartfelt commentary on growing up in a pre-WiFi world. If you remember the analog era—the one before everything lived on a screen—that's the ground he's working from. He's built a following on social media with no-holds-barred takes on pop culture, politics, and the general chaos of that pre-digital time.
He's a working writer as well as a performer. His credits include VH1's Hip Hop Honors, the 2020 VMAs, and the 2021 Golden Globes. More recently, he served as head writer for Comedy Central's Hell of a Week with Charlamagne Tha God, which earned him a Writers Guild Award nomination, and worked as a creative consultant on Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out. On stage, he's made three national appearances on Gotham Comedy Live and was a standout on FOX's Laughs and Punchline across its first two seasons.

The Red Room is an 18+ room that bills itself as bringing stadium-sized talent to an intimate theater. The shows average an hour and forty minutes and feature an opener, a feature, and a headliner, so you're getting a full night of comedy rather than just a single set. McBee headlines the August 27 show at 8 PM, and the run continues through August 29, with that final show starting at 7:30 PM.
