The Red Room at Cap City: Catacombs & Comedians

Catacombs & Comedians comes to The Red Room at Cap City Comedy Club on Wednesday, November 4, at 8 PM. It's a live actual-play Dungeons & Dragons show, and the whole thing is built around four comedians roleplaying as an adventuring party. If you've never seen actual-play live, that's exactly what it sounds like: a D&D campaign played out on stage in front of an audience, with the comedians playing their characters and the story unfolding in real time.

Because it's comedians at the table, the comedy comes from the roleplaying itself. The four of them take on the roles of a party on a quest, and the humor comes from how they handle the situations the game throws at them. It's not a scripted play, so the dialogue and the outcomes are driven by the game, with the comedians reacting to each other and the dice rolls as they go. If you're already into D&D, you'll recognize the format; if you've never played, it's still easy to follow as a comedy show.

The show runs in The Red Room, one of the rooms at Cap City Comedy Club here in Austin. It's a Wednesday night, so it's a mid-week outing rather than a weekend one. The game starts at 8 PM, and since it's a live session, you're watching the party navigate the quest from start to finish. If you've ever wanted to see a D&D session played out on stage, this is a good place to start.

Tickets are available through GoTickets, and the show is on Wednesday, November 4, at 8 PM at The Red Room at Cap City Comedy Club.
