The PVIL Story: Separate...But Equal?

The George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center is hosting a screening of The PVIL Story: Separate...But Equal? on Friday, August 28. The documentary is directed by Mark Burns and looks at the Prairie View Interscholastic League, a league that shaped generations of athletes and leaders coming out of Prairie View A&M University. The evening is hosted by the museum and organized by Carver Museum ATX.

The documentary features Joe Greene, Ken Houston, Warren Moon, Jimmy Johnson, Jerry LeVias, Bill Bradley, and Andre Ware—a lineup of Hall of Fame talent and coaching legends that stretches across decades of the game. It's a look at the league that helped launch them and the legacy it left behind.

The night is set up as more than just a screening. It kicks off with a reception from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, then the film runs from 6:30 to 8:15 PM, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. If you're coming for the movie, you can head in closer to 6:30, but the reception gives you a chance to settle in and talk before the lights go down.

It's a free screening, so you don't need to worry about tickets. The museum is at 1165 Angelina St in Austin, and the whole thing runs from 5:30 to 9:00 PM.
