Community cinema screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas with free admission, guided village tours, and concessions for sale.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes is bringing The Nightmare Before Christmas to Community First! Village on Friday, October 30, for a community cinema screening. It's a free event, so you can bring a group without worrying about the cost. The movie starts at 6:30 PM, though it won't actually roll until full dark, which is about an hour after the start time. If you're planning to arrive early, there's a guided tour of the Village before the film begins, so you can get a feel for the place before you settle in.
For those who haven't seen it, The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993, PG, 1h 16m) was directed by Henry Selick and voiced by Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, and Catherine O'Hara. It follows Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town, who discovers Christmas Town and decides to bring Christmas to his own homeβan idea that causes plenty of confusion along the way. It's a stop-motion classic that fits the end-of-October timing perfectly.
There will be concessions available for purchase, including popcorn, candy, and drinks, but keep in mind they take card only. The proceeds go to the organization's formerly homeless neighbors who work the event, so your snacks end up supporting the people who make the night happen. And if you've got a dog, they're welcome as long as they're on a leash.
