Live staged reading of The Minotaur, by L.B. Deyo, presented by The Zahir.
The Zahir is bringing The Minotaur to Found Sound ATX on Sunday, October 11. It's a live staged reading of the play by L.B. Deyo, and it's still under development, so this is one of those early looks at a piece before it's fully locked in.
For those who aren't familiar, a staged reading is a bit different from a fully produced play. The actors are on stage with the script in hand, and the focus is on the text and the performance rather than sets or costumes. It's a way to hear a new play out loud in front of an audience while it's still being worked on, which is exactly where The Minotaur sits right now.
The company behind it is The Zahir, an Austin-based group that puts together original theatre, film, and storytelling projects. They describe their work as being about bringing people together for meaningful conversation, framed against a world they see as defined by noise, loneliness, and misinformation. If you've followed them for a while, you might recognize a few of their other titlesβThe Egg and The American Revolution are two of the productions they've put on.
