Folk and Americana duo The Milk Carton Kids perform live at the State Theatre in Austin, with support from Rosi Golan.
The Milk Carton Kids play the State Theatre on Saturday, December 5, with Rosi Golan opening. The duo is touring Lost Cause Lover Fool, their 2026 album and latest release in a discography that stretches back to Retrospect in 2011.
Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale are a folk and Americana duo from Eagle Rock, California, known for their twin voices and two acoustic guitars—a 1951 Gibson J45 and a 1954 Martin 0-15. They've shared stages with Rosanne Cash, John Leventhal, Aoife O'Donovan, Sara Bareilles, Mumford & Sons, Josh Ritter, Molly Tuttle, Dar Williams, Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle and John Prine. Their screen and broadcast appearances include Austin City Limits in 2014, NPR Tiny Desk Concerts in 2012, Conan and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the film Don't Think Twice, for which they performed and composed the song "Freedom."
Along the way, they picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album in 2014 for The Ash & Clay. That record sits between their early work and the newer material they're bringing to the stage this time around, so the set should pull from across their years together. Rosi Golan opens the bill.
