Concert by The Living Pins at The Aristocrat Lounge in Austin, with support from Bantom Woods, Life Skills Department and The God Catchers.
The Living Pins play The Aristocrat Lounge on Saturday, October 10, with a full bill starting in the afternoon. It's a four-band run: The God Catchers kick things off at 5 PM, followed by Life Skills Department at 6 PM, Bantom Woods at 7 PM, and The Living Pins taking the main slot.
If you've never come across them, The Living Pins started here in Austin back in 1996. Carrie Clark, from Sixteen Deluxe, and Pam Peltz, from Ursa Major, put the band together as an acoustic outlet for songs that didn't quite fit into their touring projects. They returned in 2019 with a shift toward original amplified material, and since then they've been putting out records with some steady regularity. Their 2021 EP Freaky Little Monster Children was recorded in the empty lobby of an East Austin warehouse, produced by Jeff Copas of Sixteen Deluxe with a remote guitar solo added by Matt Devine of Permanent Green Light. That was followed by Let It Be So in 2023, and The Roxy Unicorn, which has been coming out between 2024 and 2026, along with a string of singles. There's also a bit of a tradition they keep up: they record a Christmas song every year, in the spirit of the Beatles' 1960s holiday recordings for their fan club.
