The Lemon Twigs perform their theatrical power pop and baroque pop sound at Mohawk Austin as part of their December US tour.
The Lemon Twigs play Mohawk Austin on Thursday, December 17, at 7 PM. It's one stop on their December US tour, which follows a run that's taken them through Europe, Canada, the UK, and Ireland, with a New York date at Tompkins Square Park also on the bill.
For those who haven't kept up, the band is a theatrical power pop and baroque pop duo fronted by Long Island brothers Brian and Michael D'Addario. They debuted on 4AD with 2016's Do Hollywood, followed by Go to School and 2020's Songs for the General Public, which reached number 61 on the Billboard chart. Their latest album, Look For Your Mind!, came out on Captured Tracks, and the artwork, photography and design were all by Eva Chambers, who also sings and plays bass on the record. Danny Ayala added bass and vocals, Reza Matin played drums, and Sammy Weissberg handled the orchestral arrangements.
That baroque side is a good way to describe the sound: power pop with a theatrical streak and orchestral arrangements woven in. The D'Addario brothers have been the constant throughout their first few records, and Look For Your Mind! brings in a larger group around them, with Chambers, Ayala, and Matin filling out the band. The Austin date is part of the December leg of their US tour, which comes after they've played across Europe, Canada, the UK, and Ireland.
