Queer-centric original comedy show from long-running sketch group The Floor Is Lava, staged throughout August to celebrate Austin's LGBTQ community.
The Floor Is Lava are back at Fallout Theater on Saturday, August 8, with their signature show, Certified Pride. It's their second performance of the month, following a run on August 4, and it's the one they stage every August when Austin celebrates its LGBTQ community.
If you're not familiar with them, The Floor Is Lava is a long-running Austin sketch comedy group that does queer-centric original work. Certified Pride is their flagship production: musical, silly, prop-laden, and even "murderous," as they put it. It's a sketch show in the truest sense—a series of short, disconnected pieces rather than one long story, so you'll see a wide range of characters and setups in a single night.
The group doesn't take itself too seriously. Their Instagram bio quotes William Shakespeare: "My 'comedies' are complete 💩 compared to the greatest sketch group to ever sketch!"
