A special theatrical re-release of The Fast and the Furious to mark its 25th anniversary, featuring the original cast and director Rob Cohen.
The Fast and the Furious is coming back to the big screen at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Mueller on Monday, August 24, at 7 PM. It's a special Fathom event marking the 25th anniversary of the movie that started the whole franchise.
If you've only seen the later ones, this is the one that launched it all. Directed by Rob Cohen, it's a street-racing story set in Los Angeles. Dominic Toretto is a racer suspected of masterminding a series of big-rig hijackings, and Brian O'Conner is an undercover cop who infiltrates Toretto's crew to get the inside scoop. Along the way, Brian falls for Toretto's sister and finds himself forced to choose a side. It stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and Michelle Rodriguez.
Seeing it in a theater is a different experience than catching it on a TV screen, especially with the sound and the crowd. It's a chance to go back to where the series began, long before it grew into the global phenomenon it is now. The screening is part of a wider Fathom event, so it's not just a one-off showing.
