The Elijah Zane Band plays Güero's Taco Bar on Thursday, August 20, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's a single-act bill, so they're the only ones on the stage that evening.
If you haven't spent much time there, Güero's is a South Austin fixture. It opened in 1986, started by Rob and Cathy Lippincott, who brought more than 60 years of hospitality experience to the table. It grew out of the modest taqueria they ran on East Oltorf after the original Central Feed and Seed store closed in 1993. Today, the second generation runs the place: their daughters, Lyle and Bette Lippincott, who grew up in the business. The restaurant is known for hand-shaken margaritas made the original way with fresh-squeezed lime juice and for authentic interior Mexican food with a hint of Tex-Mex, including handmade corn tortillas, mole, and tacos al pastor. The Oak Garden adds live music, dancing, and an outdoor cantina atmosphere to the mix, which is where you'll find the band.

Since the show runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, it's an early one—the kind of set that fits right into a happy hour or a dinner plan. You can grab a table, order some tacos and a margarita, and listen while you eat. The band takes the stage at 6 PM and wraps up by 8 PM, so you're out well before the night really gets going.
