The Drop-In Summer Concert Series w/ Gus Baldwin & the Sketch + Magic Rockers of TX

Gus Baldwin & the Sketch and Magic Rockers of Texas play the Long Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, July 23, as part of The Drop-In summer concert series. The show is outdoors on the H-E-B Stage at 701 W. Riverside Drive, and it kicks off at 7 PM.

Baldwin is a 25-year-old Austin singer-songwriter with a history that goes back further than you'd expect for his age. In high school, he played drums for the Dallas surf-punk band Sealion, then spent six years fronting the psych-pop combo Acid Carousel, putting out more than 20 releases before parting ways in 2021. Since then, he's been recording solo and with The Sketch, releasing on his own GetWithIt! Records imprint.

Sharing the bill are the Magic Rockers of Texas, an Austin power-pop band led by singer Jim Campo. They formed in the mid-2010s and are known for gritty hooks and garage-infused rock, so the night pairs Baldwin's songwriting with their brand of guitar-driven pop.

The Drop-In is a free outdoor concert series that returns to Austin every summer, powered by KUTX 98.9 and presented by KUTX and the Long Center. This season features 23 bands spread across the summer, with this one being one of them. The series now operates on a 'Pay What You Want' basis to support local music, so it's free to attend, and the show starts at 7 PM.
