The Drakes perform live at The Saxon Pub, a historic Austin listening room known for hosting over 22,000 musical performances.
The Drakes play The Saxon Pub on Wednesday, September 9, starting at 6 PM. It's a free show, with tips appreciated.
The band has a bit of a sideman story to it: they started when the backing musicians from various projects got together and evolved into what they call Austin's premiere rock n' roll band. At the front are Miranda Dawn and Chris Hawkes, who first met when he crossed an Austin barroom floor and asked her to dance. They found their sound later, when they first sang together.
They're playing at The Saxon Pub, a listening room that opened in 1990 and has hosted over 22,000 musical performances since then. It's served as a location for films, videos, and plenty of live recordings, and it's helped launch the careers of several prominent entertainers. Kris Kristofferson once likened playing there to "playing in my own living room."
